I’ve been thinking about making poetry posters such as this one available to purchase from The Poetry Project website. I would love to know what you think! My mom, Mary Larter, and sister, Melissa Larter, put this one together for after I had my baby and I’m pretty sure quite a few of our combos would lend themselves to the same thing. Once the book is available it’s going to be sold through the website and I quite like the idea of having a few other things available too. Feedback please!!
Whose flames leap ever high.
A roaring, whirling pyre,
These flames will never die.
My love is a star
That shines forever bright.
My love is a dream
That guides me through the night.
Except perhaps with words.
They fail me too
Now and again.
Sometimes I cannot describe
A scene of great beauty.
I can only explain
How it feels to see it.

That tell the stories of our lives
With different styles and graces;
And unhatched dreams
Bring the promise of more.
I caress each word
As I squeeze it from my pen,
Pretending it is all so easy. (more…)
This is a house
Where angels dwell.
Bodyguards that surround us
And protect us,
So the gates of hell
Cannot prevail against us. (more…)

His shoes have stood there for weeks.
Lovingly, she polishes them,
Keeping them for the day
She is sure will come.
When the owner will return
For them…..and for her. (more…)
Small pleasures in life
Are very real.
The way we laugh;
The way we feel
For each other–
And for the extensions
Of our lives.
Products of our love–
Our growing additions.
Miniatures that are a blend
Of you and me.
Precious treasures;
Small pleasures
Of highest quality.

Deep in the serenity of Your way,
I have found salvation.
The tranquillity in my heart
Quells all my fears
And calms my soul.
In the midst of trouble
I can rest in Your truth,
And in the quiet
Of Your shelter.
My precious God of peace.

I am an American, married to a South African, Anthony, and have been living in South Africa for 29 years. We have 3 grown up children, Nadine, Melissa and Matthew. We have one grandson, Noah, the light of all our lives. I have written poetry my whole life. But for many years now, I have concentrated on Christian poetry, and really believe these poems can change people’s lives. I hope that you will find peace in them and something to believe in.
